Obama's Scholarship Program

President Barak Obama's plan to give scholarships to mothers is, of course, and idea that came about from the best of intentions and is being marketed as such. However, it is not just mothers that can take advantage of President Obama's new agenda.

Federal Pell Grants are essentially government funds that are given to low-income students, not just mothers. Because single mothers who hold full-time jobs and take care of their children are usually strapped for cash no matter how many hours they work because of the cost incurred when paying for daycare or school items, they make up an important portion of students who would qualify for government assistance under President Obama's plan. But full-time working students who make minimum wages would also qualify for this program.

President Obama has increased Federal Pell Grants from the four thousand and fifty dollars that was the maximum to five thousand one hundred dollars, which will no doubt be a help to students seeking this type of assistance.

Another thing that may help single mothers and low-income working students achieve their education goals is that these grants allow a student to attend college online. Also, The American Opportunity Tax Credit program dictates that the first four thousand dollars of higher education be free of cost.

The first step to getting this type of government funding is to what college the student will attend and what course they will take while studying there. After that a FAFSA form has to be submitted and the approval process is underway. There are no guarantees when applying, but it never hurts to try.
