Obama Administration Adds Federal Scholarship Money For Moms Who Want to Return to School

Whether your dreams for improving your own life and the lives of your children includes a new job in the medical field, new energy technologies or just about any other field, the chances are good that you may qualify for financial help through the additional money included in the stimulus package.

Begin by deciding what field you are really interested in. If you are just beginning to take classes, consider just taking a just a few courses at a time to get started. It's easier to keep working toward a goal if you don't overload and burnout early on. (Just remember, to qualify for some programs you must enroll in a certain number of hours each semester.) Once you have come up with a beginning plan, you need to contact the financial adviser at the school you are considering. They have all the details in how to match your goals with the money available.

Check out the Pell Grants for Higher Education Program. Pell Grants do not need to be repaid, though there are some income restrictions associated with these. Again, financial aid people are there to help with this. An additional bonus: new income tax credits may apply to you next semester.

If you can combine Pell Grant money with other scholarship money ? and you would be amazed at the number and variety of scholarships available ? you might just find that post-secondary education easily within your reach.

Applying is easy and does not take long - what do you have to lose?
