Unemployment and overwhelming debt are blanketing the country these days. Fortunately, the government has set aside billions of dollars to be given away in the form of grants. While the money is available, laying your hands on it isn't all that easy. Research is needed to find the cash award that will benefit you.
First, check out the official web site for the US government. It lists all the government agencies and the benefits & grants associated with those agencies. Just clicking on those links will provide you with a surplus of information about grants, loans, and financial aid. For example, if you run a farm or ranch, the government wants to give you $200,000. If you start a small business, the government is prepared to gift you $500,000. Need help getting government contracts? The government will give you $300,000 to entice itself to sign on with your company ($500,000 if you are a minority). You can even get up to $3,000,000 in venture capital funds.
Another place to look is the government grant web site. This is a list of all available grants offered by the government. The website also offers a downloadable application to make it easier to lay your hands on some cash.
It should be noted that as of yet there are no grants aimed at paying off personal credit card and unsecured debt. But, there are many grant options that will help with mortgages/foreclosures, student loans, and tax credit/rebates/incentives.
