Obama's Scholarships Help Mothers Go Back to School

As a single mother, it can be difficult to imagine returning to a life that was before children. A child, with all the joys and hardships they bring, can consume all thoughts. When a single mom is working, she's thinking about making money to feed her son or daughter. When she's cleaning, she keeping the health of her children in mind. Being a mother is a full time job, and sometimes mothers become mothers before they can get the degree they need to get the job they want.

As Obama has taken to office, many things have begun to change. From health care to the war in Iraq, the winds are shifting. That goes for the education of not just young kids, but the education of mothers too. And because mothers use their income to care for the kids, the government has scholarships to aid them. Financial aid such as Federal Pell Grants and scholarships for online study, terms you usually hear for an incoming college student, are becoming more and more available to mothers wanting to go back to school.

There is an understanding that it is extremely difficult for a mother of one or two or four kids to suddenly add another responsibility like education to her plate. Not to mention, the cost of education is not getting any cheaper. So why should a mother look up from the dishes and consider going back to school? Because an education is what benefits people. In this modern day, a degree can influence a person's next job and improve one's circumstances. With new scholarships for the mother in need, going back to school is beginning to look more hopeful than fanciful.
