Obama Urges Mothers to Go Back to School - Grants and Scholarships for Moms

President Obama has made it pretty clear that he wants mothers to return to school. He has focused on this educational goal since he came into office and he has made good on his promises to work for the betterment of mothers and children everywhere. There are many reasons for his enthusiasm for this program.

Moms who get college degrees generally can obtain work that they enjoy at a higher pay scale than under educated women doing the same jobs.

Moms who go back to school are often seen as strong by their children who sometimes recognize that their moms have made sacrifices for them. They also are excellent role models for kids when they demonstrate that it is never too late to improve your life.

Are you one of the moms who would like to return to school but are afraid it can't be done because of money problems?

Many women who put their school goals on hold get to a point where it seems impossible to reverse that decision. It's not easy to work, raise a family, and go to school all at the same time. If you are the mother of one child or several, it costs money to raise children and moms typically put their own wishes aside in favor of providing for their kids. It's just the nature of a woman to willingly make those sacrifices.

In a recent report describing Obama's goal of increasing the Federal Pell Grant, it was demonstrated that with the increase in the number of people applying for the grant, and the increased amount of the grant ($5,500 in 2010), there might be as many as 260,000 people who would be able to return to school. President Obama's fervent wish has been that mothers would be some of the beneficiaries of these grants so that they might further their careers or even find new careers that would give them a better job and more money in the future.

Earn Your Degree Online

Making it easier for you as a mother to continue your schooling is that you will be able to study online in the comfort of your home and in your own time. This will ensure that you will be able to care for your family while earning your degree. In the past this has been one of the barriers preventing mothers from going to school. Working all day, managing a home and studying for daily work and exams was just too exhausting. But President Obama knows that if moms can work from home, they are more apt to continue their education and eventually enjoy the results of all of their hard work. The changes that are taking place will go a long way toward cementing families and making our society stronger in the process.
