President Obama's New Plan Allows Mothers to Earn a Degree - Scholarships for Moms
When the stimulus package was introduced and passed, it contained funds to help mothers return to school and get that elusive college degree. If you have wanted to go back to school but have been worried that you just won't be able to make it financially, then now is certainly the time to just do it.Much of the mom's scholarship money is in the form of Pell grants. Pell grants have been around for awhile, but they have not kept up with the cost of higher education. Obama's stimulus package has dramatically raised these grant awards to almost $10,000.00 for low income applicants. And, if you are a single mom, you probably have a low income.
There are a lot of amazing things that happen when you finally don that cap and gown and get your degree in your hand. Of course, financially, you will have a much greater earning potential. But that is only one piece of the reward.
People with college degrees have a better feeling about themselves. You can look yourself in the mirror and know that you have the strength and determination to do just about anything. You will also have set a good role for your children to follow. They can look up to and admire you for not giving up. In addition, you will probably enjoy your job much more because it is one you have chosen rather than a job you are stuck with.
Take that first step into the financial aid office of your local college and get the ball rolling. Use the Stimulus programs scholarship money to help you find your better life.
